Natural Elephant Ear

These are the dried pods of the so-called flame tree, which is also botanically called Delonix egia. During the drying of the fruit, it was bent by hand and turned slightly inwards, which gave the scaletta bean the characteristic appearance that is slightly reminiscent of an elephant's ear.
